IMPACT OF STRATEGIC PLANNING ON ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE

 INTRODUCTION

1.1             Background to the Study

The effectiveness of strategic planning can be measured in terms of the extent to which it influences organizational performance, which affects its survival rate. Strategic planning can be defined as the process of using systematic criteria and rigorous investigation to formulate, implement and control strategy and formally document organizational expectations (Pearce and Robinson, 2014).

Strategic Planning is a process by which we can predict the future and develop the necessary procedures and operations to influence and achieve that future. As in many other fields, strategic planning professionals often wrap their work in pseudo-scientific jargon designed to glorify their work and create client dependence.

IMPACT OF ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE ON ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE

 INTRODUCTION

1.1        Background to the Study

Successful implementation of a business strategy occurs when leadership, management systems, organizational structures and organizational culture change are all aligned to the strategy. Organizational culture is closely connected to the productivity and is critical to the business success as this is the process which an organization develops its internal capacity to be effective in its mandate in the short, medium and long term running.

Organizational culture by interpretation provides a meaning system for employees who are making sense of their working environment. As such, organizational culture serves as a vehicle of the organizational influence on the individual’s identity and behavior by socializing individuals into specific norms and patterns of behavior in an organization by providing socially shared perceptions, which create predictability in the organizational environment (Marinova, 2015).

ANALYSIS OF CAUSES AND CONSEQUENCES OF CHILD LABOUR IN NIGERIA

                                                             INTRODUCTION

1.1              Background to the Study

Child labour is a universal problem. It dates back to the period of industrial revolution (late 1700s to early 1800s). (Lockwood, 2016).  During this period, a lot of families needed as many working hands as they could get, so children were not an exempted. However, Africa happens to have the largest number of child labourers. Meanwhile, in 2001 the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) developed strategies to fight child labour for exploitative labour purposes in West and Central Africa. (Anukan, 2016).

Child labour according to Dyorough, (2014) is the employment of children under the age of 18 in any form of work that interferes with their education and has negative effects on them physically, mentally, socially and morally. In Africa, the first commitment to combat trafficking is exemplified in Africa charter on the right or welfare of the child. In 2002, the African Union (AU) reaffirmed its commitment to combat child abuse. (Dyorouhg, 2014). It identified the elimination of human and child trafficking as an operational priority.
