1.1       Background to the Study

The role of technological development in society has long been an interesting area and an important intellectual issue for both academics and researchers. The influence of technological development is changing the present world very rapidly. Changes are taking place in all spheres of life and ultimately changing the social and cultural belief systems. Technological advancement is the one which is playing a major role for this change.

The introduction of satellite television is one of the dimensions of this technological advancement which has a definite effect on the social and cultural area of people especially youths. For these changes, human behavior is also changing and therefore, the study of changes in the human behavior is becoming more important in the present business world (Shamsher and Abdullah, 2012).

THE INFLUENCE OF BANKS CAMPUS STORM MARKETING ACTIVATION ON THE SAVING HABIT OF STUDENTS

INTRODUCTION
Today, the spending power of the youth has grown exponentially while their understanding of financial matters is abysmally low. Credit cards have become all too common among the youth and at the end of the month when they have to pay their bills, they are very confident about the fact that they can rely on their parents’ financially any time. Saving is ‘the excess of income over all expenditure’ where the expenditures are also mentioned as consumption, which is life contributions and insurance (if any), and the saving behavior is the money keeping activity after they use it for their own wealth (Denton, Fretz, & Spencer, 2011).

EFFECT OF TOBACCO ADVERTISEMENT AND ITS USES IN MOVIES ON YOUTH SMOKING HABIT

INTRODUCTION
1.1       BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
In the United States of America for instance there are standing agreements with the cigarette companies to place their product in movies or television programmes but surprisingly, the amount of smoking in U.S. films has increased significantly since the settlement agreement was signed in 1998. In Nigeria today, tobacco advertisement remained one of the heavily prohibited product that could not be advertised in any of the media of mass communication.

In spite of this prohibition, some of these companies have stylishly advertised their product as can be visualized in the advertisement copy. Slogans such as “the Federal Ministry of Health warns that tobacco smoking is dangerous to health” or “smokers are liable to die young” is against this background that cigarette manufacturers have subtly entered the movie industries. Ostensibly to cynically promote the prohibited products. This is usually done in brand appearance through Act endorsement.

ASSESSMENT OF LEGAL IMPLICATION ON THE EFFECTIVENESS OF BROADCASTING IN NIGERIA

 Introduction
The study of broadcasting regulation started to creep into the edges of the media studies curriculum. This wind of change should be welcomed, because it will aid the apprehension of the major forces that shape the communication environment. However, globalization in the face of specialization necessitated probes in sections of the society by scholars in the different areas. That is why media scholars cannot do without looking at issues as they concern media practices. An appraisal of the statutes of regulation of the Nigerian broadcast industry is pertinent at this period when the whole world is talking about digitization of broadcasting.
